Free Photography Workshop:
The Vital Importance of Composition in Taking Better Photographs
Led by Mike McKinnon
Thursday, June 29
5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
This highly participatory workshop is designed to offer you a pallet of ideas, "rules", attributes, elements, suggestions and techniques to consider in conscientiously improving the composition of your photographs. In the process you will be exposed to a mental model that can be adapted to enhance your ability to "compose" imagery that is worthy of deserved praise. Most importantly you will understand why that commendation is warranted. This awareness and application of the complexity of composition, aligned with design theory, better informs you in judging the strengths and areas for improvement in photography in general, and your photographs in particular. In simple terms this workshop will help you to take better pictures . . . and be able to explain how you will continue to do it. To personalize that self-assessment please bring two photographs from your collection that will be the focus of your evaluation.
Here's what past participants say about Mike's workshop:
· "What I liked best was that I can use much of this valuable information starting tomorrow."
· "I feel more confident in my self-criticism by having a mental checklist to use in evaluating the quality of photography in general and most importantly my own as well."
· "The relaxed interactive approach that involved the audience was very helpful in applying old and new ideas."
· "Now I have the motivation to find and reread the manual that came with my camera."
· "I'm taking him . . . or at least his ideas with me to Hawaii."
Pre-registration is encouraged (but not required). If you plan to attend, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 608-882-0407.
